| Survivor: Something
or someone that endures, outlives or outlasts others. |
| |
| For centuries the nomadic
Bushmen have endured threats to their way of living. A vital
tool in their survival has been their leather sandal - cut from
animal hide and essential to their wandering lifestyles in some
of the harshest and most unforgiving climates. |
| |
When European settlers
came to this continent, and their trusted leather shoes finally
perished, the only solution was to make their own. So the basic
'VELSKOEN' or 'SKIN SHOE' was created... from raw hide or a
leather piece wrapped and tied around the foot.
To further combat the wilds and bush terrain of Africa, the
original stich-down 'VELDTSKOEN' or 'BUSH SHOE' was created
... a one or two part leather upper, attached outflanged to
the sole of the shoe using hide or leather 'riempies'. Crafted
with passion, and handmade with care today's African Survivor
shoes are no different to their original prototype. The same
basic design philosophy of the genuine stich-down 'VELDTSKOEN',
combined with modern production techniques, results in the African
Survivor range... a thread of Africa in every shoe. |
| |
| So if you're ready to
challenge any jungle, urban or otherwise, there's a shoe, tailor-made
for you ... work wear, casual wear, rural wear, urban
wear, bush wear, 4x4 wear ... almost "any-wear". |
| |
| If history teaches us
that where we are going to is a result of where we've come from,
then the African Survivor - with its 'SKIN SHOE' and 'VELDTSKOEN'
forerunners - will march you into the future. |
